An opportunity for an experienced commercial litigation lawyer to join the disputes practice of a well-regarded mid-tier commercial firm in Sydney.

The role offers exposure to a broad range of complex commercial disputes, with scope to build a genuinely broad litigation practice. Lawyers with a strong contentious insolvency background would also be well suited, with opportunities to continue developing this experience alongside broader disputes work.

The Opportunity

The practice advises across a broad range of commercial litigation and dispute resolution matters, which may include:

• Complex commercial and contractual disputes
• Corporate and shareholder disputes
• Regulatory investigations and proceedings
• Insolvency and restructuring disputes
• Insolvency-related claims and recovery proceedings
• Asset recovery and enforcement
• Urgent and interlocutory applications
• Court proceedings, mediations and settlement negotiations

You will be involved across all stages of litigation, including advising on strategy, drafting pleadings and evidence, preparing submissions and briefs to counsel, managing discovery and working closely with clients, counsel and experts.

About You

You will ideally have:

• Approximately 4-6+ years' PQE in commercial litigation and dispute resolution
• Experience gained within a strong private practice disputes team
• Experience working on complex litigation matters
• Strong drafting, analytical and technical skills
• Confidence dealing directly with clients and counsel
• The ability to take increasing responsibility for matters and support more junior lawyers

Experience in contentious insolvency, regulatory matters or other areas of complex commercial litigation would be well regarded.
